Description:

Build a comprehensive understanding of major events and trends in U.S. history—from slavery to writing the U.S. Constitution, Western expansion, and emergence as a superpower. Learners will prepare to research and teach the history of the American people and their institutions as well as explore on-ramps to MA and PhD programs in History and related fields.

United States History allows you to establish and promote expertise with useful content as you explore opportunities in the university, community college, and high school history teaching professions. Through assignments, projects and assessments, you must demonstrate mastery of each course with a minimum grade of 80%. Successful learners will receive a digital badge to showcase the skills earned.

Complete three of the following courses:

  • HIST 801 - Historiography (3 credits)
  • HIST 907 - Colonial/Revolutionary America (3 credits)
  • HIST 908 - Nineteenth-Century America (3 credits)
  • HIST 909 - Twentieth-Century America (3 credits)
  • HIST 928 - Seminar in American History (3 credits)
  • HIST 983 - Topics in Military History (3 credits)
  • HIST 984 - Topics in American History (3 credits)
