Medical Ethics

College of Arts and Sciences

Description:

This credential offers students in health, pre-health and health related programs, a way to certify their ability to reason critically and communicate clearly about ethical issues in health care. Beyond respect for patient autonomy, this includes consideration of, inter alia, the reasoning methods appropriate to navigating apparent conflicts between the ethics of care and deontic or utilitarian obligations, distributive justice with respect to both access to and provision of health care, and conceptions of disease and medicalization of behavioral patterns.
