Historical Research Design in Security Studies

Description

Build a strong foundation in historical research and learn how to synthesize information from a range of historical sources with a focus on security studies topics. Sources may include historical texts, government documents, press reports, biographical sources, and more. Account for bias in the source and content of reported information when using historical documents to generate accurate descriptive and causal inferences.

The Historical Research Design in Security Studies microcredential will build your skills in qualitative analysis and research design. Learning objectives are supported through writing assignments as well as seminar participation and discussion. To successfully complete the microcredential and earn a digital badge, you must achieve a minimum passing score of 80% in each course.

Complete the following courses:

  • HIST 801 - Historiography (3 credits)
  • POLSC/HIST 810 - Security Studies Methodology (2 credits)
