Community-Engaged Teaching and Learning
Staley School of Leadership
Description
Develop foundational skills in community-engaged teaching and learning designed for academic and civic impact. You will learn to design high-impact learning experiences, build and sustain authentic community partnerships, and apply models of critical reflection to deepen student and community outcomes. Through scenario-based activities and a self-guided workbook, you’ll explore real-world applications of service learning, stakeholder collaboration, and reflective practice. You’ll analyze case studies, develop partnership strategies, and create learning activities that integrate community engagement principles.
Part of the ALE Faculty Workshop series, the Community-Engaged Teaching and Learning microcredential equips faculty, instructors, and academic professionals with essential skills in experiential learning design, partnership development, and reflective pedagogy. These competencies equip K-State faculty to lead applied learning experience designated courses and impactful, community-centered education and engagement. Content requires approximately 25–30 hours to complete, and earners must demonstrate satisfactory to exceptional mastery of assignments and activities to receive a digital badge.
